Taste the History as Wollombi Valley comes alive on the 7th and 8th of November with the inaugural Wollombi Valley Country Fair.
A farmers market featuring local fresh and preserved produce, arts and crafts, local wine and food stalls and an art exhibition at the Wollombi Cultural Centre across both days will help bring together three main events.
Saturday from 10, the annual Wollombi Tavern Woodchop - featuring the Wollombi round of the NSW 300mm Standing Block Championship and 8 other categories with presentation of the Nev Craft Memorial Trophy in the afternoon and food and entertainment into the night.
Throughout Saturday there will be buskers roaming the village, including Scottish dancers and pipes & drums, and a free lantern workshop in Wollombi Community Hall for those that would like to participate in the parade.
Saturday evening, children from local schools and crafty community members will feature in a lantern parade displaying paper and cane lanterns they have created in workshops, culminating in the 2009 Sculpture in the Vineyards opening ceremony.
On Sunday, The Wollombi Endeavour Museum will hold their open day and an historic machinery display from collectors across the region. St John's Church will feature guided tours, a book launch and an organ recital. There will be croquet demonstrations, a boules tournament in memory of local artist and icon Bernard Gay along with post & rail fencing, slab-cutting , timber water trough and sandstone carving demonstrations.
